The Adamawa State House of Assembly has repealed the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission Law No. 6 of 2014 and enacted a new version for 2025, aiming to enhance hajj operations and administrative efficiency.

During plenary session, the Majority Leader, Mrs. Kate Raymond Mamuno, presented the bill for its third reading.

Lawmakers approved the measure after considering recommendations from the Committee on Public Petition, Public Service, and Electoral Matters, which highlighted the bill’s potential to improve discipline, staff training, and compliance with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) guidelines.

With the new law, Adamawa State, as gathered by The Trumpet, is set to achieve full compliance with NAHCON regulations, strengthening its status among states with an established Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission.

The motion for the bill’s third reading was moved by Majority Leader Mamuno and seconded by Deputy Speaker Mohammed Buba Jijjiwa.

The Speaker, Bathiya Wesley, who presided over the session, put the motion to a vote, receiving unanimous support from the lawmakers.

Following its passage, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to prepare a clean copy of the bill for submission to the Executive Arm for final approval and implementation.
