The Adamawa State House of Assembly, yesterday, confirmed six nominees for appointments as Chairman and members of the Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP) and the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC).
The confirmation, as observed by The Trumpet, followed the presentation of the report by the Adhoc Committee on Screening and Confirmation.
Among those confirmed for the BPP are Mrs. Martina Abba as Chairman, alongside Hassan Gaigama, Joab Gambo Gundiri, Rukaiya Hayatu, and Peter Gowon Joel as members.
The adhoc committee which was chaired by the member representing Numan constituency, Pwamwakeno Mackondo, also led to the confirmation of Kwada Peter, as a member of the FRC.
Presenting the committee’s report, Mackondo assured the assembly that the screening process was transparent and thorough, with all nominees meeting the necessary qualifications.

He highlighted their extensive experience in the public sector and their commitment to enhancing efficiency, transparency, and due process in the state’s procurement and fiscal responsibility frameworks.
Mackondo noted that the nominees had outlined their strategies for promoting accountability and ethical governance, emphasizing their track records in upholding transparency. He urged the assembly to approve their appointments.
Also speaking, the Majority Leader, Kate Raymond Mamuno, lauded the committee for its diligence in the screening process and moved for the adoption of the report.
Presiding over the plenary, the speaker,
Bathiya Wesley, announced the confirmation of the nominees and directed that the resolution be communicated to the state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
