The Adamawa State Government has approved a ₦762 million investment package aimed at strengthening electricity supply and improving public service delivery, in a move expected to impact communities and infrastructure across the state.

At the centre of the decision is a ₦598 million project to reroute electricity to Borrong community in Demsa Local Government Area. The new supply line will pass through Wuro Nyanka in Shelleng LGA, creating a more reliable distribution route that avoids the long-standing disruptions linked to the River Benue.

Officials said the upgrade is designed to address frequent power outages caused by flooding, which has repeatedly damaged transmission infrastructure located along the river. The project is expected to be completed within three months, delivering more stable electricity and supporting economic activities in the affected areas.

The approvals were granted by the State Executive Council led by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, as part of broader efforts to tackle infrastructure challenges and improve governance outcomes.

In addition, the council approved ₦164 million for the procurement of an operational vehicle for the Ministry of Environment. The move is intended to enhance environmental monitoring, response capacity and regulatory enforcement across the state.

Government officials said the combined investments reflect a strategic focus on durable infrastructure and efficient service delivery, particularly in areas vulnerable to environmental challenges.

The intervention is expected to strengthen electricity access, reduce disruptions and improve the overall quality of life for residents, while also boosting the state’s capacity to manage environmental concerns effectively.
