The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved funding exceeding ₦1.2 billion for key infrastructure projects across the state, as part of ongoing urban renewal and development initiatives.
At its 10th meeting of the year, held on Wednesday and chaired by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, the council endorsed over ₦919 million for the extension of the state House of Assembly Complex in Yola.
The contract was said to have been awarded to Messrs Farassociate Nigeria Limited, with a seven-month completion timeline.
Originally awarded in 2007, the project had long been abandoned.
However, the current administration under Gov. Fintiri has revived the initiative, identifying it as a critical component of the government’s legislative infrastructure agenda.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Iliya James, who briefed journalists after the meeting, also disclosed the approval of ₦369 million for the renovation, remodeling, and automation of the Government House main entrance in Yola.
The project has also been awarded to Messrs Timeless Dizing Limited, a firm commended by the council for its technical capacity and track record.
James also used the opportunity to caution residents in flood-prone areas to move to safer locations as the rainy season intensifies, emphasizing the need for precautionary measures to safeguard lives and property.
Speaking further on the state’s infrastructure plans, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Pirambe, said the ongoing remodeling of various government facilities, including Barde Lodge and Gambo Lodge within the Government House, reflects the administration’s commitment to modernization and urban renewal.
In a related development, the Commissioner for Rural Infrastructure, Titus Solomon, provided updates on the NYSC–Labondo–Borong Road project.
