The sporting director of AC Milan, Igli Tare, has confirmed that the Italian club is interested in Manchester United’s forward Rasmus Hojlund.
The Danish striker was not included in the squad for United’s 1-0 home loss to Arsenal on Sunday.
Reports suggest that coach Ruben Amorim made this decision amid growing speculation regarding the 22-year-old’s future.
Although Hojlund has previously stated his intention to stay at United, the recent signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig for £73.7 million could significantly limit his playing time.

“Hojlund is a good option for us,” Tare said to Sport Mediaset before Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Bari in the Coppa Italia.
“We are assessing him at the moment, but the transfer market can be unpredictable. We know we need to strengthen that position and seek players who can contribute more to the team.”
Tare also mentioned interest in Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.
Hojlund was benched for the final pre-season match against Fiorentina on August 9, while Sesko was only introduced to the crowd before the game, as Mason Mount played in a false nine role.
Mount continued in that position on Sunday, with Sesko and fellow striker Joshua Zirkzee on the bench.
Sesko made his debut with 25 minutes left in the match.
“It’s a competition for spots,” Amorim commented after the loss. We’ll see what happens in the market.
“There are different playing styles. Rasmus shares similar traits with Benjamin Sesko, so we have to make a choice.”
Hojlund, who was signed for £72 million two years ago, was United’s primary striker last season, netting 10 goals in 52 appearances.
His first season saw him score 16 goals after transferring from Atalanta.
The decision to bench Hojlund has been supported by United’s management.
