Abuja is set to host the 8th African Data Protection Conference from May 6 to May 8, 2025. The African continent will witness one of its most anticipated tech policy gatherings as the 8th Network of African Data Protection Authorities (NADPA-PAPDP) Conference and Annual General Meeting comes to life at the iconic Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.
Organized by the Network of African Data Protection in collaboration with the Nigerian Data Protection Commission (NDPC), the high-level event is expected to draw global and continental leaders, policymakers, and digital economy stakeholders to Nigeria’s capital city.
This year’s conference, themed “Balancing Innovation in African Data Protection and Privacy in Emerging Technologies,” comes at a crucial time when the continent is witnessing explosive growth in digital innovation, AI, fintech, and data-driven solutions. As governments and businesses race to harness technology for development, the event aims to strike a critical balance between digital progress and the protection of citizens’ privacy rights.
A major highlight will be the keynote address titled “Stimulating Economic Growth While Protecting Privacy Concerns in the African Digital Economy.” The session will examine how to scale economic opportunities in Africa’s digital space without compromising the fundamental right to privacy—a conversation that is more relevant than ever as tech disruptions challenge traditional regulatory frameworks.
