The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Danladi Isa, has dismissed three police officers over their involvement in conspiracy, abduction, and extortion.
The dismissed officers include Sergeant Jonas Nnamdi (Force No. 501356), attached to Area Command, Aba; Corporal James Daniel (Force No. 511844), attached to the Department of Operations, Umuahia and Corporal Ifeanyi Emeka (Force No. 511853), attached to Eziama Division.
A statement by the Abia State Police Command, said the officers, along with two civilian accomplices, were arrested on January 29, 2025, by the divisional police officer of Abayi.
The.statement said the dismissed officers were caught armed with an electric baton, an assault rifle, and a Beretta pistol after allegedly hiring a minibus, abducting civilians along the Port Harcourt Expressway, and extorting money from them.

“The victims’ families were also reportedly asked to pay additional sums for their release.
“Following their arrest, an investigation and an orderly room trial confirmed their involvement in the crime, leading to their immediate dismissal.
“The officers have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for prosecution, along with their civilian accomplices,” the statement said.
Meanwhile the state police boss has reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for corruption and misconduct, emphasizing that discipline and professionalism remain the foundation of the police.
He assured the public that his administration is committed to upholding the inspector general of police’s vision of a competent, service-driven, and people-friendly police force.
The dismissed officers have since had their official police accoutrements retrieved by the command’s provost.
