Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, a Catholic priest who was abducted on Thursday afternoon in Kurmin Risga, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has regained his freedom.
Fr. Amos, who serves at St. Gerald Quasi Parish, returned home safely and unharmed on Friday around 2:00 p.m., bringing relief to parishioners and the wider community.
His release was confirmed in a statement issued by Rev. Fr. Dr. Jacob Shanet, who expressed deep gratitude to God and extended appreciation to members of the public for their prayers and unwavering support during the tense period.

Fr. Shanet also lauded the combined efforts of the local vigilante group, the Nigeria Police, and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), whose roles were instrumental in securing the priest’s freedom.
The incident highlights the persistent security challenges in Kaduna State, particularly in the southern region, which has been plagued by repeated cases of abduction and violence.
Clergy members and rural residents have increasingly become targets in recent years, prompting renewed calls for improved security measures.
