Crowd of Governor Fubara ‘s supporters, musical groups and other Rivers people Friday morning gathered at the Port Harcourt International Airport on the outskirts of the state capital to receive the governor expected to arrive the state for onward resumption of office after the lifting of the six month state of emergency by President Bola Tinubu.
On Thursday many Rivers people who thronged the roads and streets including the Government House in anticipation of the governor’s resumption of duty went home disappointed as the governor did not show up.
Among those who are easily identified in the crowd at the airport are former aides of the governor many of who will be looking forward to be reappointed by the governor.

Many conflicting reasons were adduced as to why the governor failed to show up on Thursday. Some sources said the governor was tidying up the list of appointees to be. forwarded to the state legislature for screening and confirmation .
On their first plenary on Thursday after resumption at the expiration of the state of emergency, the legislators had requested the governor to hasten and forward the list of his commissioner mominees and revised budget for approval.
On Thursday night during a television interview, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike had said he would not interfere in the choice of appointees by the governor contrary to the widely held view by the public that the minister would be the defactor governor in the emergong scenario in Rivers State.
