The Chief Imam of Owo and Chairman of the Ondo State League of Imams and Alfas, Alhaji Ahmad Aladesawe, has died at the age of 91.
The news was disclosed by a prominent Muslim leader in Owo, Alhaji Kamorudeen Ishola.
He informed the media that the Imam died on Monday evening at the Federal Medical Center in Owo, Ondo State.
Ishola described the Imam as a beloved Islamic scholar and community leader who dedicated his life to promoting Islam in Nigeria.
The Imam’s burial is set to take place at 2 pm on Tuesday in Owo, following Islamic customs.
The National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) in Ondo State expressed its condolences to the Imam’s family, the Owo Muslim community, and the nation as a whole, recognizing this loss as significant.

The state Missioner of NACOMYO, Alhaji Abdulwaasii Yusuf, shared in a statement that the Imam was a vital supporter of their organization and one of the greatest Islamic scholars in the region.
Yusuf prayed that “may Allah accept his good deeds, forgive his shortcomings, and grant him a place in paradise. Ameen.”
Before his passing, Sheikh Aladesawe also served as the secretary general for Imams and Alfas in the South-West, as well as in Edo and Delta States.
He was well-loved for his efforts in promoting Islam and fostering peace throughout Ondo State and beyond.
Many have shared their sorrow over his passing, calling it a significant loss for both the Muslim community and the state.
