Eight students at a hostel in Odisha, India, were hospitalized after a fellow student applied instant glue to their eyes while they were asleep.
Local media in India reported on Monday that the incident took place on Friday night at a boarding school in Salaguda, Kandhamal district, located about 248 kilometers west of Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha.

According to reports, the boys were seen crying with their eyes closed as doctors worked to carefully separate their glued eyelids.
“Doctors indicated that the adhesive had caused significant damage to their eyes, but prompt medical intervention could prevent permanent vision loss for the children,” the report stated.
Authorities have initiated a high-level investigation into the incident.
In the meantime, the school headmaster has been suspended for negligence.
