The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has praised the Enugu State government for its effective intervention following an attack on herders in the state.

The commendation was expressed in a statement issued by MACBAN’s National Deputy Director, Mr. Gidado Siddiki, on Sunday in Enugu.

Siddiki acknowledged the state government’s efforts in promoting peace and justice, expressing his confidence in Governor Peter Mbah’s commitment to protecting all lawful trades within the state.

He described the attack on six herders and the rustling of over 100 cattle as unfortunate, but he appreciated the government’s prompt response to the incident.

“We sincerely recognize the dedication of the state government and security agencies in safeguarding lives and property across the state,” Siddiki stated.

He also noted the government’s assurance that the perpetrators of these heinous attacks would be brought to justice.

“We respectfully urge for even greater efforts to prevent future occurrences of such attacks against our members.”

Siddiki emphasized the importance of collaboration to ensure peace, security, and justice for all residents of the state.

He pointed out that MACBAN’s engagement with the state government to promote peace has been fruitful and encouraged his members to have confidence in the ongoing investigations by security agencies.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the victims. Their loss is our collective loss, and we stand with them during this difficult time.

“It is important to note that we are not blaming the government, as we understand that no administration wishes to see unrest during its tenure.

“However, we must report our challenges and losses to the government, as it is the institution we rely on to address and put an end to such incidents affecting our members,” he said.

Siddiki added that the association appreciates the efforts of the government and security agencies on their behalf.

“It is worth mentioning that the recent incident occurred deep within the forest, and without their intervention, we would not have been able to recover the bodies for burial in accordance with Islamic rites,” he concluded.
