The competition is part of a broader effort to tap into the creativity of young people and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Lagos.

The adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Ms. Damilola Ayinde-Marshal shared the news at a press conference in Ikeja, Lagos on Thursday.

She explained that the initiative is designed to help students discover and nurture their artistic talents, providing them with a platform to showcase their creativity.

According to her, the competition aims to promote entrepreneurship in the arts, preserve cultural heritage, and develop skills that contribute to the economy.

“Our classrooms are filled with young artists, sculptors, and creative minds whose talents deserve to be recognized and encouraged,” she said. This competition will give students a chance to express their ideas and preserve our cultural identity for future generations.

Ms. Ayinde-Marshal also mentioned that the registration process for the competition is now open, and interested students can sign up and submit their work through a dedicated online portal.

Participation is only for students currently enrolled in high schools or colleges in Lagos State. She encouraged school leaders, parents, and teachers to motivate students to seize this “golden opportunity.”

Winners of the competition will receive benefits such as mentorship, opportunities to showcase their work, and potential partnerships in the creative industry.

Ms. Ayinde-Marshal praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for his dedication to empowering youth, promoting tourism, and supporting the arts and crafts scene in Lagos. She also requested media support to spread the word about this competition.
