The Federal Ministry of Education has released a comprehensive list of 26 trade areas that have been approved under its revised technical education curriculum.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Bon Folasade, it was announced that starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, all Federal Science and Technical Colleges will be rebranded as Federal Technical Colleges.
This major reform, outlined by Education Minister Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, and Minister of State Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, mandates that each college must offer a minimum of six and a maximum of ten trade courses. The updated curriculum also introduces Citizenship and Heritage Studies alongside core science and language subjects.
