The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of defrauding several individuals in Adamawa State.
The suspect was apprehended on September 2 in Timbokum village, Ganye Local Government Area, following a complaint filed at the corps’ divisional office in Mubi.
NSCDC spokesperson, Nyako Baba, confirmed the arrest in a statement released yesterday in Yola, the state capital. He said the suspect is currently in custody and will be prosecuted once investigations are concluded.
According to the Adamawa State Commandant, Idris Bande, the suspect is accused of defrauding at least nine individuals of a combined sum of ₦9.8 million.
He allegedly lured his victims with false promises of political appointments, employment opportunities, and foreign travel arrangements.

“Records show that the suspect obtained the contacts of prominent individuals in the state, which he used to deceive victims with attractive but fake offers,” Bande stated.
Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect refunded ₦1.1 million to some victims during initial investigations. However, the command said efforts are ongoing to trace the remaining funds and fully uncover the scope of the suspect’s activities.
The NSCDC also disclosed that the investigation is being widened to identify any potential accomplices involved in the scheme.
Commandant Bande urged members of the public to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior, assuring that the NSCDC remains committed to protecting lives, property, and public trust by bringing fraudsters to justice.
