The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has announced that the federal government is intentionally focusing on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a key component for national development.
This announcement coincides with the board’s initiation of a review and validation process for the syllabuses of 26 trade areas in technical colleges, working alongside education regulators, industry stakeholders, technical college principals, and curriculum specialists.
During a five-day review meeting, NABTEB’s Registrar and Chief Executive, Dr. Mohammed Mohammed, referred to this initiative as a significant reform.
“It is with great pleasure and deep appreciation that I welcome you to this historic event for the comprehensive review and validation of 26 specialized trade syllabi for our technical colleges.

The trades include robotics, coding and machine learning, industrial mechanics, smart agriculture, cinematography and creative media production, social media, and digital communications.
Others are automotive mechatronics, electrical and solar panel installations, hospitality and catering, mechanized agriculture, beauty therapy and cosmetology, as well as fisheries and aquaculture.
Dr. Mohammed emphasized the importance of integrating innovation with sustainability.
“The inclusion of environmentally friendly programs like solar panel installations and smart agriculture highlights our commitment to sustainable development.
“These initiatives position Nigeria as a frontrunner in adopting green technology while addressing significant energy challenges,” the NABTEB chief executive added.
