Ange Postecoglou is anticipated to succeed the recently dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo as the manager of Nottingham Forest.
Nuno parted ways with the club late Monday night, and Forest is actively seeking a replacement.
Reports suggest that Postecoglou, 60, is a leading contender for the role. Initial discussions have reportedly occurred, with optimism about reaching an agreement.
Postecoglou was let go by Tottenham at the end of the previous season after a disappointing Premier League campaign that saw them finish 17th.
Nevertheless, he did guide Spurs to a historic Europa League triumph at the season’s end, breaking the club’s lengthy trophy drought.
Currently, Forest is positioned 10th in the Premier League after their first three matches of the season.
Nuno’s tenure lasted 21 months, with his final game resulting in a 3-0 loss to West Ham just before the international break in September.
The 51-year-old Portuguese coach took over Forest in December 2023 after Steve Cooper’s dismissal and played a crucial role in maintaining their top-flight status.
Last season, he led the team to a seventh-place finish in the Premier League, marking their best performance since 1994-95 and earning them a spot in European competition for the first time in 30 years.
It is believed that Postecoglou will be appointed before Forest’s upcoming match against Arsenal on Saturday, making him the eighth permanent manager since Evangelos Marinakis acquired the club in May 2017.

They conceded 65 goals, with only Wolves and the relegated teams of Leicester, Ipswich, and Southampton allowing more.
However, Postecoglou did lead the club to its first major trophy in 17 years with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final, securing Champions League qualification.
Unfortunately, this achievement was not enough to save his job, as he was dismissed just 16 days later.
Tottenham appointed Thomas Frank as his successor, noting that Postecoglou would be remembered for delivering “one of the club’s greatest moments” as only the third manager to win a European trophy for them.
In his first season, Spurs finished fifth, and he fulfilled his promise of bringing home silverware in his second year.
Initially praised for his attacking style, Postecoglou faced criticism for adhering to his principles and dealt with numerous injuries to key players.
