In a bid to strengthen the quality of primary education in Taraba State, the Kwararrafa Galaxy Club, Wukari, in partnership with the TY Danjuma Foundation, has held a refresher training workshop for mathematics and science teachers in Donga Local Government Council.
The workshop, which brought together educators from across the council, focused on equipping the teachers with updated teaching techniques and strategies to boost learning outcomes in science and mathematics.
Addressing participants at the event, the Project Officer of the Kwararrafa Galaxy Club, Prof. Zaku Sabo, said the training was designed to build upon previous workshops, with an emphasis on practical classroom application.
He encouraged teachers to create student-friendly learning environments and to cover the curriculum methodically rather than rushing through topics.
“Teachers must be patient and systematic. Where there are gaps in understanding, they should seek clarification rather than push on blindly,” Prof. Sabo advised.

A representative of the education secretary also addressed the gathering, urging participants to take full advantage of the workshop to enhance their teaching skills, noting its relevance to improving educational standards in the region.
Also speaking at the event, Emmanuel Ishaku, the Taraba State Coordinator for the TY Danjuma Foundation, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to educational development across the state.
“Through needs assessments conducted in several local government councils, we discovered a significant skills gap among teachers. This training is part of our response to that challenge.
“The Kwararrafa Galaxy Club identified five key local government areas in the southern part of the state that require urgent support, and our interventions are tailored to meet those needs,” Ishaku explained.
