The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspected fraudsters accused of posing as security personnel and defrauding a man of ₦1,030,000.
The suspects, identified as 30-year-old Nasiru Adamu from Sokoto State, alongside 49-year-old Yusuf Sani and 25-year-old Aliyu Yusuf, both from Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State, were apprehended on September 2, 2025, around 1:30 p.m. in Danagundi Quarters, Kano.
Police spokesperson Abdullahi Kiyawa, in a statement released on Thursday, confirmed that the arrests followed a distress call from the victim, Salisu Ibrahim, who reported that the suspects had tricked him into handing over the money. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly claimed to possess special powers to help the victim and lured him to a designated spot where they demanded cash while delivering whispered instructions.
Kiyawa explained that operatives, working in collaboration with members of the public, swiftly tracked and arrested the suspects after the report. He added that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
