The Taraba State Police Command has recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux vehicle and apprehended two suspects linked to the theft, according to an official statement released on Monday.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, James Saminu, confirmed the development in a statement made available to journalists in Jalingo, on Monday.

The police said the incident occurred on August 28, 2025, following intelligence received from the commander of the anti-kidnapping squad in Kano State.

The report, according to the command, revealed that a white Toyota Hilux, without a plate number, had been stolen from Mr. Murtala Musa a resident of No. 6, Dutse Road, Kano, and that the stolen vehicle was believed to be heading towards Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State.

“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, operatives of the Taraba State Anti-Kidnapping Squad mounted surveillance and successfully intercepted the vehicle in the Di-Nyavoh area of Jalingo.

“Two individuals, Yallah Kadara of Anguwan Kasa and Sa’ad Bello were found in possession of the vehicle and were promptly arrested,” the statement read.

The police further confirmed that the case is under active investigation.

Reacting to the arrest, the commissioner of police, Betty Otimenyin, commended the operatives for their swift and effective response.

She reaffirmed the command’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

She also called on the public to continue supporting police efforts by sharing timely and accurate information, noting that community cooperation remains a vital tool in combating crime and sustaining peace in the state.
