Residents of Ibeju-Lekki are in an uproar following the tragic death of an unarmed man, reportedly shot by police officers.
The incident has sparked anger within the community and is raising concerns about police behavior.
The events unfolded in the Onosa community on Thursday night, where two other persons were also seriously injured and are currently in the hospital.
On Friday morning, a large group of frustrated young people and locals took to the streets to protest.
They blocked key roads and stopped traffic as a way to express their outrage and stand in solidarity with the victim’s family.
Video footage showed demonstrators marching, chanting, and setting up barricades with burning tires.
Some clips even captured the heartbreaking sight of the victim’s body inside a vehicle.

One resident shared, “We are protesting against the police in Ibeju-Lekki after the killing of an unarmed citizen. It all happened in Onosa.”
Another eyewitness added, “Two people are in the hospital right now.”
Community members have accused the police of using excessive force and are calling for justice, demanding that those responsible for this incident be identified and held accountable.
In response, the police has urged the residents to remain calm, stating that the injured persons are receiving medical care.
The police also announced that an investigation into the incident is underway.
