Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has constituted an 11-member investigative panel to probe the alleged sale of the Nigerian Meat and Allied Products (NIMAP) Abattoir by former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration.
While inaugurating the committee on Wednesday at the cabinet office, Secretary to the State Government Umar Faruq, said the multi-billion naira facility, located at Chalawa Industrial Area, was originally built during Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s tenure and designed to generate revenue and create employment opportunities.
Faruq emphasized that the investigation is imperative to hold the previous administration accountable and protect critical state assets from illegal disposal for personal gain.
The panel is to be chaired by former Anti-Corruption Agency Chairman Barrister Muhuyi Magagi Rimin-Gado, whose responsibilities include investigating circumstances surrounding the sale, reviewing all transaction documents and agreements; assessing compliance with relevant laws and due process.

They are also expected to determine individual and organizational culpability, recovering lost public funds and assets and recommend legal and disciplinary actions among others.
Other members of the committee include the Humanitarian Affairs Commissioner Adamu Kibiya, Special Adviser Aminu Hussain, and several legal practitioners Among others.
In his remarks, Rimin-Gado assured that the investigation would be conducted “without fear or favor,” promising diligent and impartial proceedings.
Meanwhile the committee has been given a three-week deadline to submit its findings and recommendations to the state government.
