Arsenal is looking to acquire Piero Hincapie, a defender from Bayer Leverkusen.
The club is prioritizing the recruitment of a left-sided defender this summer, and the Ecuadorian international Hincapie has emerged as a top option.
Sources cited by BBC Sport confirm that Arsenal’s scouting team has closely monitored the 23-year-old’s performances.
Hincapie has a release clause set at 60 million euros (£52 million) and is eager to depart from the German club before the transfer window closes.

Since joining Leverkusen in 2021, he has made 166 appearances across all competitions and was part of the team that won the Bundesliga and the German Cup in the 2023-24 season.
This summer, Arsenal has already invested over £200 million in new players and is now looking to offload some of their current squad, with Fabio Vieira, Reiss Nelson, and Oleksandr Zinchenko among those up for sale.
There has also been interest in center-back Jakub Kiwior, with Porto being one of the clubs interested.
While Tottenham has been mentioned in connection with Hincapie, sources maintain that he is not currently a target for Spurs.
