The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State has arrested a 29-year-old man for carrying 7,000 capsules of tramadol.
The agency’s spokesperson, Mr. Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, said on Monday morning that the arrest took place on Saturday.
The suspect was stopped by NDLEA officers while traveling on the Zaria-Kano Road in the Kwanar Dangora area, returning from Lagos with a large number of these capsules hidden inside a 20-liter oil container.
He said that the operation is seen as a significant achievement in the ongoing battle against drug abuse in the region.

The NDLEA highlighted the skill and professionalism of its officers in uncovering the concealed drugs.
The NDLEA state Commander, Mr. Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, praised the officers for their hard work and also acknowledged the leadership of retired Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba-Marwa, the agency’s chairman, for his support.
