The Director General of the campaign team for George Moghalu and Ifeoma Okaro, Okey Chukwuogo, has criticised Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, for claiming victory over the Labour Party (LP) in the just-concluded bye-election, knowing clearly that the LP didn’t participate in the election.
“We are worried about the claims made by Governor Charles Soludo after the recent by-election in Nanka. He claimed that the Labour Party and its candidate were defeated in his polling unit.
“Usually, we would ignore such bragging. However, we must speak up because the people of Anambra deserve to know the truth.
“Here it is: The Labour Party did not have a candidate in the by-election. INEC made it clear that the Labour Party could not participate in the August 16, 2025, by-elections, whether for the state House of Assembly or the Senate.
“So how can Governor Soludo claim to have defeated the Labour Party? Was there a Labour Party candidate published by INEC?
“Did anyone see Labour Party campaigns or posters? Soludo’s so-called victory is merely a staged act meant to mislead the public,” he said.
Chukwuogo asserted that despite not participating in the election, many voters in the state expressed their support for the Labour Party.
“In several polling units, voters openly wanted to vote for the Labour Party, showing that it is more than just a political party; it is a movement that resonates with the people of Anambra.
“What happened on Saturday was not a true democratic process but a shameful display of vote-buying.

“Reports indicate that voters were given up to ₦30,000 each. This wave of cash shows that APGA and its government have nothing to offer except desperation.
“This by-election revealed a troubling reality. A governor who claims a solution is here needed to spend massive amounts of money to appear popular.
“If Soludo has genuinely succeeded, why did he have to waste billions to prove it? What credibility is there in a victory bought rather than earned?
“Even more concerning, Governor Soludo now celebrates defeating a widow. Ndi Anambra should ask: What kind of leader spends billions just to embarrass a widow in an election? What kind of victory lacks ethical standards?
“Another important question is: where is the security budget for Ndi Anambra? If billions can be spent overnight to buy votes, why has Soludo not secured lives and property, repaired our roads, revived hospitals, created jobs for the youth, or brought hope back to our communities?
“Why is there always money for vote buying but never money for real governance?
“Governor Soludo presents himself as a reformer and economist, but this election showed him as a reckless spender and a politician focused on propaganda instead of real achievements. This is hypocrisy at its worst.
“Let us be clear: Saturday’s by-election was not a true measure of popularity. It was a one-sided event because the Labour Party did not participate.
“APGA should not deceive itself. November 8, 2025, will tell a different story because the Labour Party has a strong and capable candidate. Ndi Anambra will make their voices heard at the polls,” the LP stalwart added.
