The Kano State Police Command has assured residents that there will be adequate security during the by-election for Bagwai/Shanono and Ghari/Tsanyawa on Saturday.
Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, gave this assurance in a telephone interview with reporters on Friday in Kano.
Bakori stated that security agencies in the state are collaborating to ensure a crisis-free by-election.
He explained that clear operational orders have been issued to officers deployed to ensure security at each polling unit across the affected local government areas.
The police commissioner mentioned that a sufficient number of armed personnel have been mobilized to guarantee security before, during, and after the by-election.
He emphasized that robust security measures are in place to ensure a peaceful political environment in the state.
Bakori assured law-abiding residents that they can freely exercise their right to vote on Saturday without fear.
He urged political parties and candidates to behave in a manner that fosters peace and promotes the orderly conduct of the elections.

“We will maintain a visible presence at polling units to protect voters’ rights and prevent intimidation. We will not tolerate thuggery, intimidation, or violent behavior at any time related to the election,” he stated.
Bakori also emphasized that a level playing field will be provided for all political parties and that any actions that could lead to confusion in the state will not be tolerated.
He warned that anyone found violating the law will be arrested and prosecuted.
