AIBEN Property, a leading company in Nigeria’s real estate sector, has announced its intention to host the 4th edition of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council Football Tournament, which is set for 2026.

This announcement was made by Mr. Andy Elerewe, Managing Director and CEO of AIBEN Property, during a courtesy visit from a delegation of the NUJ FCT Council, led by Chairperson Ms. Grace Ike, on Thursday in Abuja.

Mr. Elerewe praised the NUJ’s efforts to use sports, especially football, as a means to promote unity among journalists, security agencies, government bodies, and the private sector.

He emphasized the significance of the enduring partnership between AIBEN and the media, which has fostered camaraderie and healthy competition.

“To show our ongoing support, AIBEN will offer its Maralago Sports Complex, located along the Kubwa Expressway, as the venue for the 4th edition of the tournament. We will also maintain our role as the title sponsor,” he stated.

He explained that the tournament is not just about football; it serves as an essential platform for networking, team building, and interaction between journalists and participating organizations.

He reiterated the company’s dedication to initiatives that promote social cohesion and make a positive contribution to Nigerian society.

During the visit, the NUJ FCT Council formally presented Mr. Elerewe with promotional materials for the tournament, including flyers, banners, and a customized jersey with the number 10.

The AIBEN CEO expressed his excitement for the event, even promising to participate on the field during the tournament.

In her remarks, Ms. Grace Ike praised AIBEN for its steadfast support, particularly in the tournament’s early years when it was solely organized by the Correspondents’ Chapel. She noted that the Council has since taken over the tournament, enhancing its status and influence.

“Football is a universal language that brings people together. This tournament has become a significant gathering point for media professionals and stakeholders from various sectors,” she stated.

The 3rd edition of the NUJ FCT Football Tournament is set to occur from August 18 to 23, 2025, at the Area 3 Football Pitch and the Area 10 Football Field, both situated near the Old Parade Ground in Abuja.

Participating teams will include AIBEN Properties, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the Federal High Court (FHC), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Additional teams include the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), the Nigeria Air Force (NAF), and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The tournament draw and press conference are scheduled for August 12, 2025, at the NUJ FCT Council Secretariat in Utako at 10:00 AM.
