During a media event organized by the Nigerian police at their headquarters in Abuja, where he is being held, Omoyele Sowore criticized the police, claimed his arrest was unjustified and asserted that the Nigerian police and President Bola Tinubu lack integrity.
He also condemned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for endorsing the brutal illegal actions occurring under his administration.
In the video, Sowore demanded that the Nigerian police and the federal government set aside their pride and apologize for his unlawful and violent arrest, which he warned could have serious repercussions.
The press event, intended by the Nigerian Police Force to show that detained activist Omoyele Sowore was being treated well, descended into chaos on Friday.

The Commissioner of Police, who had brought journalists and activists to meet Sowore, abruptly ordered them to leave after the activist took the opportunity to declare that instead of “wasting the media’s time,” the “illegal” Inspector-General of Police should be dismissed immediately.
The police aimed to counter claims of mistreatment and assault, but the meeting turned confrontational, intensifying calls for Sowore’s release.
Sowore, a former presidential candidate, reiterated his demand for release during the media visit, which was perceived as a desperate attempt by the police to alleviate rising tensions regarding his ongoing detention.
With a bandage on his hand and speaking defiantly, Sowore criticized the Nigerian police and the Tinubu administration for what he described as a “shameful display.”
