Newcastle United have rejected a sensational bid from Liverpool for star striker Alexander Isak, with the Magpies reportedly valuing the Swedish international at a staggering £150 million. The move signals Liverpool’s serious intent to bolster their attack ahead of the new Premier League season, but Newcastle is standing firm on their price tag.

While Liverpool’s official offer remains undisclosed, sources suggest the bid is in the region of £110 million, with additional performance-related bonuses that could push the total closer to £130 million. However, this falls significantly short of Newcastle’s valuation for the 25-year-old forward, who has quickly become one of Europe’s most coveted strikers.

Isak’s absence from Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia has only intensified transfer speculation, as the prolific forward is currently training solo at his former club Real Sociedad. The move is fueling rumours of an imminent switch, even though Newcastle has secured a Champions League spot for the coming season.

Since his £60 million move from Real Sociedad in 2022, Isak has emerged as a central figure in Newcastle’s attacking setup. His consistent goal-scoring record and ability to unlock defences have made him a top target for Liverpool’s new manager Arne Slot, who is eager to bring him to Anfield before the transfer window slams shut.

Despite Newcastle’s public stance that Isak is not for sale this summer, Liverpool has remained persistent. Last month, the Reds made initial contact, and now, with a formal bid on the table, the ball is back in Newcastle’s court. Whether Liverpool returns with an improved offer could be the defining drama of the transfer window.

Liverpool’s aggressive summer overhaul has already seen the club spend around £265 million on six new signings, including Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Armin Pecsi. At the same time, key departures like Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Jarell Quansah have generated over £115 million in outgoing transfers.

With the Premier League season just weeks away, the spotlight remains firmly on Alexander Isak and whether Liverpool will break the bank to get their man or if Newcastle’s resolve will hold strong in what’s shaping up to be one of the summer’s most dramatic transfer sagas.
