President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata, describing him as a man whose legacy of generosity and humanity transcends this world. During an emotional condolence visit to the Dantata family in Kano on Friday, Tinubu said the late industrialist was so selfless that, if it were possible, he would extend his kindness to the afterlife.
Visiting the Dantata residence in the Koki area of Kano for the first time since the 2023 elections, the president mourned the death of a man he described as a pillar of integrity, compassion, and national unity. He said Dantata’s legacy of philanthropy and moral values remains unmatched in modern Nigeria.

“If there were friendships and contact in the hereafter, I’m sure Alhaji Aminu Dantata would be at the marketplace, distributing food to the hungry and offering comfort to the sick,” Tinubu said. “He was so generous, so kind, and deeply committed to the values that make our country great. He was a great man and a close friend to my family. Before the elections, I came here to seek his prayers, and he blessed me.”
The heartfelt remarks from the president underscored the depth of his relationship with the late elder statesman and his admiration for Dantata’s lifelong commitment to humanitarian service.
In response, Dantata’s son, Tajudeen Aminu Dantata, thanked the president for the visit, noting that it was a powerful symbol of the love and respect his father earned across the country. He said Tinubu’s presence showed that the loss was not just that of the family or the Kano people, but of the entire nation.
“We witnessed your warm relationship with our father even before you became president. Your visit today and how you have reacted since his passing shows that he meant a lot to you and the country. On behalf of the family, we thank you sincerely,” Tajudeen said.
President Tinubu was accompanied on the visit by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Defence Badaru Abubakar, Minister of State for FCT Mariya Bunkure, and other top government officials. They were received by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, and a host of northern leaders.
