Vice-President Kashim Shettima arrived in London on Monday, responding to the directive issued by President Bola Tinubu following the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Shettima was accompanied by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, as they made their way to the UK capital to pay their respects. Upon arrival, they were greeted by Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Babagana Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, who took a moment to extend their condolences.

In this solemn visit, Shettima is tasked with overseeing the arrangements for the repatriation of Buhari’s remains to Nigeria. The former president is set to be laid to rest in his ancestral hometown of Daura, located in Katsina State. Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s leader from 2015 until 2023, passed away on Sunday following a lengthy struggle with illness, leaving behind a significant legacy in the nation’s political landscape.
