The Senate has acknowledged the recent court ruling regarding Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, but said they have not yet received the official document that confirms the details of the ruling.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, made this announcement on Sunday in Abuja.
He explained that until the Senate receives the official copy of the court’s judgment, it will hold off on making any decisions that might affect its legal stance regarding Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension.
He noted that the judgment was delivered on July 4 by the Federal High Court in Abuja, but the Senate has not been officially served with the certified document that outlines the court’s decision.
Sen. Adaramodu mentioned that while the legal team of the Senate was present at the court, the full judgment wasn’t read publicly.

“As a result, they have formally requested for the official copy, so they can carefully review it and decide on their next steps,” the senator said.
He pointed out that without the official ruling, no party can enforce any decisions regarding the case.
“While they wait for this document, the Senate will not take any actions that could potentially affect its legal position,” he added.
Sen. Adaramodu emphasized the commitment of the Senate to following the law and stated that they will act according to the constitution once they fully understand the court’s decision.
He urged the public to be patient and assured that the Senate is dedicated to due process as they await the official ruling to determine their next moves.
