A tragic bus accident on the Ijebu-Ode–Ibadan Expressway has resulted in the deaths of at least 10 people, while three others were injured.
The unfortunate event happened involving a Mitsubishi bus on Friday night, around 8:30 pm.
According to the spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) in Ogun State, Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the crash occurred near Ome Bridge in the Ijebu North Local Government Area.
The bus, which was carrying 15 passengers at the time, lost control.
Sadly, seven men and three women lost their lives, while three people suffered injuries.

Fortunately, a toddler and another adult escaped the crash without any harm.
Early reports suggest that the driver may have been speeding and attempting to overtake another vehicle when the crash happened.
Eyewitnesses mentioned that the driver couldn’t regain control after seeing another vehicle coming towards them, leading to the bus crashing off the road, hitting a pile of gravel, and ultimately falling into a river.
The bodies of those who died were taken to the morgue of the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital, and the injured passengers are currently receiving treatment there.
