The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the arrest of at least 82 suspects, the rescue of multiple victims, and the recovery of arms, stolen vehicles, and other criminal exhibits during operations conducted between May 1 and June 30, 2025.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, made this known during a press briefing on Friday, highlighting the Command’s achievements in line with the crime-fighting directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM.
According to CP Adewale, the proactive operations were the result of intelligence-led policing, strategic crime-mapping, and aggressive raids across identified hotspots in the territory.
“These achievements underscore the command’s commitment to ridding the FCT of criminal elements and enhancing public safety through coordinated action and intelligence,” the police chief said.
The Command recorded 49 major cases during the review period, leading to the arrest of 82 suspects. The breakdown is as follows:
Foiled Kidnappings: 5 attempted abductions thwarted in locations including Apo Waru, Byhazin, Karshi, Kawo-Bwari, Gidan-Dogo Forest (Kweri), and Abaji. Three suspects were arrested, and 3 others were neutralized during a shootout in Bwari.
Foiled Robberies: 5 incidents (1 in Apo and 4 in Kubwa) prevented; 6 suspects arrested. Police recovered 4 vehicles, a jackknife, military camouflage, and ammunition.
Armed Robbery: 5 cases; 17 suspects arrested; Theft: 6 cases; 9 suspects arrested; Illegal Possession of Firearm: 1 suspect arrested; One-Chance” Robbery: 1 case; 4 suspects arrested; Attempted Homicide: 1 case; 1 suspect arrested with a locally made pump-action shotgun and an expended cartridge.
Also, Fraud: 1 case; 2 suspects arrested; Car Theft: 4 cases; 5 suspects arrested, including scrap dealers linked to dismantling and selling stolen vehicles; Child Trafficking: 4 cases; 8 suspects arrested; Rape: 12 cases reported; 10 suspects arrested. Four cases are under investigation.
Others are, Domestic Violence: 2 reported cases; Victim Rescues and Welfare: Children rescued from trafficking rings; 8 abandoned babies recovered and handed over to the FCT Social Welfare Centre; Rape victims rescued and provided medical attention.
The Command recovered a significant cache of weapons and stolen property: Firearms: 3 AK-47 rifles with magazines, 2 LAR rifles, 1 Beretta pistol, 1 locally made pistol, 1 pump-action shotgun, and 36 rounds of live ammunition.

Stolen Property: 1 air conditioner, 2 motorcycles, 27 iron rods, 9 mobile phones, 11 power banks, 3 AirPods, 1 smartwatch, 8 ATM cards, 6 phone chargers, 1 Sumec Firman generator, and ₦79,000 in cash.
Vehicles: 10 recovered from different divisions (Durumi, Kubwa, Central Police Station, and Anti-One-Chance Squad), and 2 motorcycles seized from suspected kidnappers.
CP Ajao S. Adewale reaffirmed the commitment of the FCT Police to maintaining law and order across the territory.
“We will continue to take the fight to the criminals wherever they may be hiding, to ensure that the peace currently enjoyed in the FCT is sustained and improved upon,” he said.
Residents were urged to support the police by reporting suspicious activities and maintaining community vigilance.
