The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has announced a combination of sunny, cloudy, and rainy weather throughout Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday.

In its weather prediction released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet anticipated sunny weather with some cloud coverage in the northern parts during the morning.

The agency noted that in the afternoon and evening, there would be scattered thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall in regions including Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Adamawa, Kebbi, and Kaduna States.

“For the central area, clear skies with some clouds are expected in the early morning.

“Later on, scattered thunderstorms and moderate rain are predicted for Plateau State, Benue State, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kwara, Nasarawa, and Niger States.

“Cloudy weather is anticipated in the southern sector, with morning showers likely in Akwa Ibom State.

“This will be succeeded by thunderstorms and light to moderate rain in various areas like Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Delta, Ekiti, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States,” NiMet said.

The agency added that on Tuesday, light rain from thunderstorms is expected in parts of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, and Jigawa States, while other regions in the North will experience sunny conditions with some cloudiness in the morning.

“Moderate rains are forecasted for later in the day in Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, and Bauchi States.

“In the central region, early morning thunderstorms with light rainfall are expected in the FCT, Benue, Niger, Kwara, Plateau, and Kogi, followed by afternoon or evening thunderstorms and moderate precipitation in those same states.

“The southern areas will have cloudy skies in the morning, with thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rain anticipated in the afternoon or evening, particularly in Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Edo States.

“By Wednesday morning, thunderstorms with light showers are predicted for Kebbi, Zamfara, and Sokoto States, while other areas in the North will enjoy sunny weather with cloud cover,” it stated.

The agency mentioned that moderate rains are expected later in the day across Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kano, and Kaduna.

“In the central region, sunny conditions with intermittent sunshine are forecasted for the morning, while thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rainfall will likely happen later.

“The southern region is predicted to be cloudy in the morning, with thunderstorms and heavy rain expected in the afternoon and evening,” the agency predicted.

NiMet encouraged the public to take safety precautions, as strong winds could precede storms.

It recommended the securing of loose items to prevent damage.

The agency also advised against driving during heavy rainfall, disconnecting electrical devices during storms, and avoiding large trees due to the possibility of falling branches.

It advised airline operators to check airport-specific weather updates from NiMet for effective flight planning.
