Leaders of the emerging anti-Tinubu coalition under the proposed All Democratic Alliance (ADA) have launched a nationwide mobilisation campaign across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones, signaling a bold move to reshape the country’s political landscape ahead of future elections.

Following their formal application to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for registration as a political party, sources close to the coalition confirmed that strategic groundwork is already underway to galvanize grassroots support and build a formidable opposition bloc. Trumpet Newspaper has learned that the coalition is optimistic about receiving INEC’s approval in the coming weeks.

The political alliance includes high-profile figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and the convener of the League of Northern Democrats, Dr. Umar Ardo, among other influential stakeholders. The group, united by a shared discontent with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, believes the time is ripe for a new national political movement capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Although initial discussions were held about joining an existing party, particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) the coalition ultimately decided to chart a new course due to concerns over internal crises, factional disputes, and protracted litigations plaguing many of the smaller parties.

In a formal letter to INEC, the ADA’s Protem National Chairman, Chief Akin A. Rickets, made a compelling case for registration. “We respectfully write to the Independent National Electoral Commission requesting the registration of our association, the All Democratic Alliance, as a political party,” the letter read. The coalition is seeking to offer Nigerians a credible alternative that promises unity, economic recovery, and governance reform.

Insiders close to the coalition say consultations are currently ongoing across all six geopolitical zones to attract new members, engage political influencers, and align with disillusioned stakeholders from both the APC and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). While the structure of the party is still evolving, leaders are already mapping out strategies for youth inclusion, regional representation, and policy direction.

Despite uncertainties surrounding INEC’s approval timeline, the momentum behind ADA’s emergence suggests that Nigeria’s political terrain may soon witness a major shake-up. Observers believe the growing dissatisfaction with the status quo is fueling interest in the coalition’s message, particularly among voters seeking a break from establishment politics.

If the registration is granted, the All Democratic Alliance is expected to mount one of the most formidable challenges yet to the dominance of the APC and PDP, setting the stage for what could be a historic shift in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
