Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, have commissioned an ultra-modern seed processing factory at the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park in Dadinkowa, Gombe state.

The facility, established by Premier Seed Nigeria Limited, is equipped with advanced technology for cleaning, grading, treating, and packaging certified, high-quality, and climate-resilient seed varieties.

It is expected to significantly enhance seed supply in the North-East and across Nigeria, enabling farmers to access improved seedlings, increase yields, and adapt to climate change.

Speaking at the commissioning, Chief Obasanjo lauded Gov. Yahaya for his visionary leadership and commitment to economic development, describing the Industrial Park as “a catalyst for sustainable growth.”

He emphasized the importance of quality seeds in agriculture, noting, that “if you don’t get the seed component right, the entire agricultural value chain becomes shaky.”

The former president also praised the strategic location of the park near the 40MW Dadinkowa Hydropower Plant, which he said gives Gombe State a competitive edge in powering industrial activities.

Gov. Yahaya described the event as a major step in the state’s industrialization and agricultural transformation agenda. “

With Premier Seed Nigeria Limited as the pioneer investor, we are witnessing our vision take shape,” he said.

He highlighted the state’s investments in infrastructure and reforms that have positioned Gombe as a top destination for business, noting the state’s first-place ranking in the national ease of doing business index for two consecutive years.

“The Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park spans 1,000 hectares and is fully equipped with essential infrastructure including roads, water, electricity, and internet connectivity,” the governor added.

He also pointed to other strategic initiatives, including a 184-hectare agro-livestock development zone featuring a grains and livestock market, modern abattoir, inland dry port, and agro-processing corridor.

“We are not just commissioning a building; we are unlocking opportunities for job creation, wealth generation, and long-term growth,” Gov. Yahaya declared.

The Managing Director of Premier Seed Nigeria Limited, Mr. Ibitoye Oyewale, said the project was developed in collaboration with Propcom+, a UK-funded initiative promoting climate-smart agriculture.

Propcom+ Country Director, Dr. Abiye Ode, described the factory as aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s 12-point agenda on food security and Gombe’s broader agricultural transformation goals.

Director-General of the National Agricultural Seed Council, Futuhu Mohammed, applauded Premier Seed’s efforts and reaffirmed the council’s commitment to maintaining high seed quality standards nationwide.

2027: Ukodhiko consults Isoko South constituency II leaders, seeks backing for second term Kelvin Ohoror The Member representing Isoko North and South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, has intensified consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections, engaging leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Isoko South Constituency II on his political future. The consultative meeting, held on Sunday, brought together party leaders, elders, and key stakeholders at the residence of prominent APC chieftain, High Chief Emonena Victor Egukawhore, widely known as De-Wayles. The gathering formed part of a broader outreach strategy by the federal lawmaker to brief constituents and secure grassroots support as he prepares to seek re-election. Addressing the stakeholders, Ukodhiko gave an extensive account of his stewardship in the House of Representatives over the past two years and ten months. He highlighted legislative contributions, constituency projects, and empowerment initiatives, noting that his administration has remained focused on delivering tangible benefits to the people of Isoko North and South. The lawmaker stressed that while notable progress has been made, more work remains to be done. According to him, continuity in representation would ensure the consolidation of ongoing projects and the completion of key developmental programmes already initiated across the constituency. Ukodhiko formally informed the leaders of his intention to seek another term in office, describing the move as a response to calls from constituents and a commitment to sustained development. He appealed for the continued support, cooperation, and unity of the party leadership in Isoko South Constituency II, emphasizing that collective effort would be crucial to securing victory in the next election cycle. “I have come to consult with you as critical stakeholders of our party and our constituency. Your support has been instrumental to our achievements so far, and I seek your backing once again as we move forward to deepen development across our communities,” he said. He reassured the gathering of his dedication to effective representation, pledging that a renewed mandate would translate into expanded empowerment programmes, improved infrastructure, and stronger advocacy for the needs of the constituency at the federal level. In their responses, several leaders at the meeting commended the lawmaker for maintaining close contact with the grassroots and for what they described as visible efforts in addressing constituency needs. They also lauded his decision to engage stakeholders through consultation, describing it as a hallmark of inclusive leadership. The meeting ended on a note of optimism, with party stakeholders reiterating the importance of unity within the APC in Isoko South Constituency II as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 general elections.
