The federal government has officially unveiled the digital portal for the much-anticipated Nigeria Youth Conference, also referred to as the National Youth Confab, on Monday, June 16, 2025.

The initiative aims to enhance youth engagement in national policy and development discussions across the country.

During the launch, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, emphasized that this event represents a “generational turning point” rather than just another routine government event.

“This is more than just a conference. It is a national movement, a call to action. We are handing over the mic to young Nigerians, empowering them to shape the future they will inherit,” Olawande stated passionately.

Designed with interactivity in mind, the digital portal will allow participants to register, share their innovative ideas, and receive real-time updates before and during the conference.

This user-friendly platform is intended to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration among participants, fostering a more dynamic and inclusive environment.

The youth conference is expected to be entirely youth-led, non-partisan, and inclusive, aligning with the government’s vision to prioritize the voices and contributions of young people.

The overarching theme of the conference: “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting solutions, owning the future,” underscores the government’s commitment to placing youth at the center of policymaking and national development.

President Bola Tinubu initially announced the plans for this month-long youth confab during his Independence Day speech in October 2024, highlighting it as a significant opportunity to listen to and incorporate the perspectives of Nigeria’s youth into the future of the nation.

In March 2025, President Tinubu also inaugurated a 44-member planning committee at the State House in Abuja, to oversee the coordination of the event, ensuring that it meets the aspirations and expectations of the younger demographic.

Given that a substantial portion of Nigeria’s population is comprised of individuals under the age of 35, this initiative is seen as a crucial step towards engaging a vital demographic in the formulation of national development priorities.

The minister urged young Nigerians to take proactive steps, saying, “the portal is now live; seize this opportunity to make your voices heard and take ownership of your country’s direction.”

The specific commencement date for the confab is expected to be announced shortly, generating excitement and anticipation among the youth of Nigeria as they prepare to contribute to this landmark event.
