The Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA) has made a significant leap forward for its 2025 championship by teaming up with important organizations like the National Sports Commission, Ministry of Youth Development, the police, road safety and other relevant agencies.
Mr. Khalifah Onu, the consultant in -charge of this year’s event and Group Chairman of Royal CBS, revealed this partnership during a gathering at the Abuja National Stadium on Sunday.
The event served to introduce a roadmap for the 2025 NUGA games while celebrating the Eid El Kabir festival.
He stated that the 2025 University Games will be unique because of its planned roadmap and the strong support from President Bola Tinubu, who cares about anything that directly affects the youth of the nation.
He emphasized that the competition does not just have one year benefits, but aims to empower young people and help them become champions on an international level for the rest of their career.

According to him, NUGA 2025 is also aimed at promoting peace and unity in societies where divisions have arisen.
Khalifah added that NUGA hasn’t been in the spotlight for a while, which has affected its results. He promised a new approach that would uplift young people from the grassroots level.
“Now that it’s our responsibility, we are working hard to use NUGA as a way to empower university students, create jobs, and spread wealth,” he said.
He urged participating universities to give their best effort and maintain good behaviour since this year’s tournament could open doors for them globally.
Prof. Tanko Ishaya, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, the host institution for 2025, was represented by Mr. Abaji Adankala.
He expressed his happiness with the preparations and noted that the consultants are meeting expectations based on how they are promoting the upcoming NUGA Games.
“As the host university, we feel very pleased with their readiness”.
Tanko, however, stated that they are 90 percent ready to host the upcoming national event.
The games will be held from November 6-16, 2025, at the University of Jos.
