President Bola Tinubu on Thursday, claimed that his administration has made important strides in improving Nigeria’s socio-economic situation as he reflected on the second anniversary of his time in office.
In a statement made in Abuja, Tinubu expressed his commitment to tackling the country’s challenges directly, fueled by hope for Nigeria’s unity and growth.
“When we began this journey, I promised to face the issues head-on,” he said.
He highlighted efforts to revitalize the solid minerals sector, which is part of the government’s strategy to diversify the economy.
Tinubu noted that revenue from this sector has risen significantly, attracting investors to set up new processing plants.
The president also mentioned improvements in the health sector, despite facing challenges.
He reported that over 1,000 primary health centres are being revitalized across the country, while an additional 5,500 centers are being upgraded through the Renewed Hope Health Agenda.
The president said that new cancer treatment centers are being established, and free dialysis services are being offered in select hospitals.
Tinubu shared that under the presidential maternal health initiative, more than 4,000 women have received free caesarean sections, and health insurance coverage has expanded from 16 million to 20 million Nigerians in just two years.
He emphasized the importance of human capital development and expanding access to quality education by investing in infrastructure and offering financial support to low-income students.
Additionally, Tinubu said his administration is working on improving health facilities and strengthening the response to public health threats.
The president stated that youth empowerment is a major focus for his government, adding that initiatives are in place to provide access to funds, skill development, and job opportunities.

He praised the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for its innovative efforts, including digital improvements that enhance efficiency.
Tinubu mentioned several programmes aimed at boosting local industry, such as Innovate Naija and the Renewable Energy and Innovation Park.
“These initiatives are creating jobs and fostering opportunities for young Nigerians.
“Agriculture and food security are also key priorities. The government has launched programs to increase local food production, assist farmers, and stabilize food prices, along with investing in modern farming tools and equipment.
“In terms of infrastructure, the administration continues to work on major road construction and rehabilitation projects across Nigeria, including significant highways that will improve connectivity,” he said.
The president pointed out that efforts to enhance electricity generation are underway, with investments aimed at upgrading power infrastructure and expanding solar energy use for homes and businesses.
Tinubu expressed excitement about the upcoming Motherland Festival, which will celebrate Nigeria’s diverse culture, creativity, and tourism.
