The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 49 suspected internet fraudsters in a major sting operation carried out in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
According to a statement from the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, the arrests were made between Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25, 2025, following credible intelligence linking the suspects to various forms of cybercrime.
It was learnt that the coordinated raids targeted multiple hideouts across Lokoja, resulting in the recovery of an unlicensed loaded pistol from one of the suspects.

In addition to the firearm, EFCC operatives seized several high-end smartphones, laptop computers, and two luxury vehicles believed to be the proceeds of fraudulent activities.
The anti-graft agency confirmed that all the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
