The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Taraba State chapter, has condemned the recent attacks on Munga Lalau and Munga Doso communities in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, which claimed dozens of lives and left many injured or missing.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the state Chairman of CAN, Rev. Fr. Dr. Williams Awoshiri, expressed deep sorrow over the violence, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday.
He decried the continued loss of innocent lives, displacement of residents, and the atmosphere of fear enveloping the affected communities.
“We are deeply pained and alarmed by the continued loss of innocent lives and the growing climate of fear,” the statement read.
“These tragic events underscore the urgent need for decisive and sustained action to end the violence.”
While acknowledging the efforts of the state government and security agencies currently on ground, CAN called for intensified intervention to ensure justice for victims and the protection of all citizens, irrespective of ethnicity or religion.

The association extended its condolences to grieving families and called for unity, compassion, and collective prayer during what it described as a “dark and difficult time.”
In a heartfelt appeal, Rev. Awoshiri urged all parties involved in the conflict to embrace peaceful dialogue and reject violence.
“Violence only breeds more hatred and deepens wounds that may take generations to heal,” he warned.
CAN also encouraged collaboration among government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community stakeholders in pursuit of lasting peace.
Reaffirming the association’s commitment to justice and reconciliation, Awoshiri added that “may God heal our land and give our leaders the wisdom and courage to do what is right.”
