Ogun State plans to enter into partnership with the private sector for the management of the sports facilities in the state, to keep them well-maintained and kept in good condition.
Commissioner for Sports, Wasiu Isiaka, made this known at a press conference on Saturday in Abeokuta.
Isiaka explained that the state government is looking to work with private companies to ensure the facilities are properly cared for and managed.
He pointed out that the state has four stadiums and other sports centers that may be too much for the government to handle alone, hence the need for outside help.
“For instance, a swimming pool requires special skills to maintain, so we plan to collaborate with the private sector for effective management,” he said.

“We want to make sure that these valuable facilities are not neglected. We have invested a lot of money into them, and we want to ensure we get good value from that investment.”
Additionally, Isiaka announced that there are plans to build chalets at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena. The arena will be divided into three areas: the chalets, a recreational space, and the sports complex.
“Our goal is not just to host the National Sports Festival, but also to create a solid system for sports development in Ogun State,” he noted.
“Ogun will soon become a key destination for sports activities.”
