Senator Ede Dafinone has denied any rift with the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, amid rising speculation about divisions within the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during a high-level strategic meeting of Delta Central APC leaders held at his country home on Sunday, Sen. Dafinone described the rumours as baseless and urged party members to desist from fanning the flames of discord.

“There is no rift between myself and Senator Omo-Agege,” Sen. Dafinone said firmly.

“I implore all party members and supporters to stop sowing seeds of discord where none exists. The task ahead is too important to be distracted by manufactured divisions.”

The senator used the occasion to give a detailed report of his performance in the Senate, outlining developmental projects across the eight local government areas in Delta Central and encouraging constituents to leverage opportunities available through his office.

The meeting, which was chaired by the state APC Vice Chairman and Delta Central APC Chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, brought together top party leaders and stakeholders to reinforce unity and recalibrate strategy ahead of future elections.

Sen. Dafinone also reaffirmed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who has defected to the APC, as now the new leader of the party in Delta State.

In his remarks, Chief Akpeki hailed the governor’s defection as a “game-changing moment for Delta politics” and urged members to embrace the new leadership reality.

The party also passed a vote confidence on President Bola Tinubu, Gov. Oborevwori, and Sen. Dafinone.

The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by the state Financial Secretary, Mr. William Deniran, and seconded by the state Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo and was unanimously adopted.

The meeting emphasized party discipline and cohesion, with leaders calling for full engagement of local party structures to avoid communication gaps in constituency project implementation.

Other dignitaries in attendance included Chief Adelabu Bodjor, Chief Digbame Ubu, Mr. Mudiaga Okorefe, and various local government party chairmen and secretaries.
