Real Madrid’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti is poised to assume the role of head coach for the Brazilian national football team ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers slated for June.
The 65-year-old Italian is scheduled to meet with individuals representing the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF).
Ancelotti remarked that discussions regarding his future are a matter for the upcoming weeks, following Real’s turbulent loss in the Copa del Rey final to Barcelona in Seville on Saturday.
Interestingly, Brazilian entrepreneur Diego Fernandes, who has been acting on behalf of the CBF, was noticed during the match.
Reports suggest that Fernandes’ current trip to Europe aims to convince Ancelotti to accept the position with the Brazilian team right after the conclusion of the Spanish season.
This scenario would necessitate Ancelotti’s departure from Real ahead of the Club World Cup taking place in the United States this summer.
Ancelotti is viewed as the top candidate to succeed Dorival Junior, who was dismissed following Brazil’s 4-1 defeat against rival Argentina in Buenos Aires last month.
Currently, Brazil is placed fourth in the table for World Cup qualification within the South American region.

Although they are not at risk of missing out on the increased 48-team tournament to be shared by the United States, Canada, and Mexico next year, the CBF believes that Ancelotti would provide Brazil with the greatest opportunity to emerge victorious.
Previously, the CBF aimed to hire Ancelotti for last summer’s Copa America but was unsuccessful in securing him.
Ancelotti has secured two La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies during his two terms at Real, including both last season.
Nonetheless, his team trails the La Liga leaders Barcelona by four points with only five matches left and suffered a 5-1 aggregate defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Reportedly, Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso is under consideration to take over for Ancelotti at the Bernabeu.
