Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has been hospitalized and will be unable to attend the club’s Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday.
The 47 -year- old went to the hospital late Friday after feeling unwell for several days, according to the club.
In a statement, they mentioned, “medical staff have kept Eddie in the hospital overnight for additional tests, which are still ongoing.
“He is aware and communicating with his family, receiving specialised medical attention.”
The club concluded with, “everyone at Newcastle United wishes Eddie a swift recovery, and further updates will be provided as they become available.”
The announcement did not provide any additional information regarding his illness or condition.
In Howe’s absence, assistant managers Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will manage Newcastle during the team’s match against Ruben Amorim’s side at St. James’ Park.
Tindall represented Howe at a press conference before the match on Friday.

Last month, Howe led Newcastle to their first domestic trophy in 70 years by clinching the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley.
Newcastle currently holds the seventh position in the Premier League standings.
Howe, who hails from Amersham, has been the head coach of the Magpies since November 2021, taking over from Steve Bruce.
In the last three seasons, Newcastle has finished 11th, fourth, and seventh.
Howe has overseen 165 matches in all competitions for Newcastle, with a record of 84 wins, 36 draws, and 45 losses.
Under Howe, the Magpies memorably beat Paris St-Germain in the Champions League group stage in the 2023-24 campaign but failed to make it to the knock-out stage.
He previously had two spells in- charge of Bournemouth either side of a brief stint at Burnley, and has been talked of as a future England manager.
However, he said he was not interviewed by the Football Association to replace Gareth Southgate, with Thomas Tuchel appointed Three Lions boss last October.
