The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State has apprehended 22 suspects linked to drug-related offenses during recent coordinated operations across various locations in the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari made this known on Friday, 11th April.2025.

He said that the arrests are part of an ongoing initiative led by State Commander, Mr. Abubakar Idris-Ahmad to combat drug trafficking and abuse, which pose significant threats to public safety.

According to him on April 10, the agency targeted drug hotspots at sites including the Dan’agundi Construction Site and several areas along Zaria Road, resulting in the recovery of assorted illicit substances such as cannabis sativa, “suck and die,” rubber solution, and various locally made weapons.

He said Investigations are underway to identify the dealers among the suspects, who will face legal action if found guilty.

In a bid to address substance abuse issues, the NDLEA has implemented a dual approach. Those identified as drug users will be referred to its Drug Demand Reduction Programme for counseling and rehabilitation. Muhammad-Maigatari emphasized the agency’s commitment to both curbing drug trafficking and supporting individuals struggling with addiction.

According to NDLEA, it says the agency remains resilient in the face of challenges, employing proactive strategies to stay ahead of emerging drug threats. The agency urges the public to assist in its efforts by reporting any suspicious drug-related activities in their communities.
