Controversial journalist Kemi Olunloyo recently rejected condolences following her father’s passing, citing a painful childhood filled with emotional and physical hardships.
In an Instagram video, she detailed the turmoil in her family, including her father’s abusive behavior, dishonesty, and poor choices, which she believes contributed to her suffering.
Kemi described a traumatic event from her youth when her family’s trip to Lagos was marred by an attack that left her younger brother severely injured and their car set ablaze.
She alleged that her father’s selfishness during that time led to her own sexual assault while her brother was trapped inside the burning vehicle.

Reflecting on those dark memories, Kemi revealed that she discovered her father’s delay that day was caused by an affair, a revelation that deepened her resentment.
She expressed a lack of grief over his death, emphasizing that she is still healing from the trauma he inflicted on their family. Instead of mourning, she suggested that others could express their condolences on her father’s Facebook page, making it clear that she feels no obligation to honor his memory.
