The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) is set to host a one-day stakeholders’ meeting on the accountability and corruption prevention programme for local governments in the country.
Scheduled for Thursday, April 3, at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, the event aims to address financial mismanagement and corruption at the grassroots level.
The ICPC through various local government initiatives, has actively engaged communities to raise awareness and empower citizens to report corrupt practices.
The stakeholders programme is designed to reinforce these efforts by promoting transparency, preventing financial leakages, and ensuring compliance with governance standards.

The initiative comes at a crucial time, following the Supreme Court’s recent ruling affirming financial autonomy for local governments across the country.
According to the ICPC, the programme seeks to restore public trust in local governance by strengthening accountability mechanisms and enhancing service delivery.
The stakeholders’ meeting will bring together key leaders and experts, to discuss challenges in local government administration and explore strategies for corruption prevention.
