The Kogi State Police Command has stopped a planned rally in Okene Local Government Area organized by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Miller Dantawaye, announced the ban following intelligence reports indicating potential security threats associated with the event.
Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan had intended to visit her constituency to engage with community members and address her ongoing recall process, fostering unity and collaboration for local development.
However, the police cited concerns that some individuals might attempt to disrupt the rally, leading to a significant disturbance.
”The commissioner of police in Kogi, hereby, urge organisers of the planned rally to cancel it in the interest of peace in the state.
“The call for cancellation became necessary, following intelligence revelations that some hoodlums planned to hijack the process and cause disturbance of peace in the state.

“The command cannot afford to jeopardise the existing peace the state is currently enjoying.
“In view of the security threat received on the planned rally, the command, is therefore, advising the organisers to cancel the event so as to avoid any breakdown of law and order,” Dantawaye advised.
In light of these threats, the commissioner urged the organizers to cancel the event to maintain peace in the state, emphasizing the importance of preserving the current stability.
He warned that the police will take vigorous action against anyone who threatens public order.
